Peconic Bay
Habitat Restoration Plan
Category: Wetland and Upland
Cost: Information not provided.
Description: The watershed's significant natural habitats with the potential
for enhancement or restoration have been described, identifying the need for
72 projects encompassing 836 acres with an estimated restoration cost of over
$42 million. The Habitat Restoration Plan for the Peconic Estuary also provides
basic information on the nine priority restoration habitat types identified
for the estuary.
Outcome: The Habitat Restoration Plan for the Peconic Estuary identified
the areas most in need of restoration. Criteria were developed to prioritize
these restoration projects. It is the expectation of the Peconic Estuary Program
that work group endorsements of particular restoration projects would help in
acquiring funds.
