Coordination of Regional Shoreline Management

Description: This project will begin to implement Action
SM-2 of the Bays Plan, by convening an initial workshop of interested stakeholders
and resource agencies to highlight 'lessons learned' and shoreline development
guidelines in use elsewhere. An outcome of this workshop, or series of workshops,
will be the formation of a Regional Shoreline Advisory Council that will oversee
the development of a handbook on the subject "Guidelines for Shoreline
Management for Use by Local Governments." It is possible that contractor
assistance will be procured to ensure that focused expertise is given to the
development of the handbook with proper consideration given to feasibility
within the context of local conditions and practices.
Outcome: Workshops were to be held during the year. A final
draft guidebook was to be completed by July 2000.
