Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program

Friends of the Bay Stewardship Program

Category: Submerged, Intertidal, Wetland, and Upland

Cost: $16,000

Description: The Bays Plan calls for the establishment of a "Friend of the Bay" stewardship program that will seek voluntary participation by area businesses to adopt themes of resource conservation and protection, utilizing logos and other packages and graphics that can be used in tourism and other literature for bay-related businesses. Program staff will assist this effort and work with regional tourism councils and boards to inventory, develop, and maintain (as part of the 'information clearinghouse' or more appropriate location) a database and website of bay-related recreational events. The goal of this latter effort is to coordinate scheduling, provide public access to calendar information for anyone wishing to schedule an event, and provide appropriate resource protection educational materials as-needed to individual events.

Outcome: Information can be found at the CBBEP web site: http://www.tarpon.tamucc.edu
