Tampa Bay
Examination of Cumulative Frequency Distributions of Seagrass Extention and
Depth
Type: Extent of habitat (i.e., area of habitat and
whether there has been a decline).
Category: Submerged
Cost: Included in model development costs
Description: For this study, cumulative frequency distribution
of historic seagrass extent and estimated depth at the edge of seagrass beds
were examined by Tampa Bay Estuary Program Technical Advisory Committee members
to define targets for seagrass restoration. The Technical Advisory Committee
recommended that a target of 95% restoration of seagrass to depths occurring
in 1950 be adopted as a long-term seagrass restoration goal. This target was
subsequently adopted by the Management and Policy Committees in 1995.
Outcome: The restoration targets for seagrass for Tampa Bay
drive the nutrient management strategy.
